Dr. S.P. Jothi has been selected as the Best Social Worker at the State level in Tamil Nadu by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, New Delhi. She visited China as a member of the Indo-China Goodwill Team to promote goodwill and social welfare.
As a social worker:
Dr. S.P. Jothi is the founder of Sri Sakthi Social Economical and Educational Welfare Trust. The trust has been working towards the betterment of society, empowering women, improving the rural economy, creating educational opportunities, and protecting the environment since 2001. The trust is registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1882, and has obtained clearances under FCRA, 12AA, 80G of the Income Tax Act.
Working in Dindigul, Theni, Karur, and Madurai Districts in Tamil Nadu since 2001, Sri Sakthi Trust focuses on women and youth development programs, vocational training, promoting self-help groups (SHGs) for women’s development, rural child education, sports activities for rural children and youth, skill development training, agricultural promotion activities, soil and water conservation activities, and climate-proofing projects with the support of NABARD and the Adaptation Fund Board. The trust has benefited around 2,00,000 women and youth in Dindigul, Madurai, Karur, and Theni Districts.
As the Managing Director of Ayyampalayam Farmers Producer Company Ltd:
Dr. S.P. Jothi serves as the Managing Director of Ayyampalayam Farmers Producer Company Ltd, formed with the support of NABARD. Through this company, she guides around 1200 farmers and promotes their business development in agricultural produce.
As an orator:
Dr. S.P. Jothi has delivered motivational speeches, literary talks, and training on gender sensitization, women empowerment, youth development programs, and farmers’ training programs , sustainable agriculture and environment conservation to nearly 200 colleges across Tamil Nadu and various international forums for the past 20 years. Some of the notable guest-lectures where Government departments and other agencies invited her are listed below,
- The district administration of Dhamtari district in Chatishgarh State invited to train the farmers in Soil and water conservation. Training has been given around 380 number of farmers from rural areas of Dhamtari district in Chatishgarh State.
- District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD – Palakad in Kerala State has invited to give a lecture to the local farming community of Palakad District. 60 farmers and women a group member has attended this program.
- NABARD invited her to give inputs on farmers producer company to Department of Agriculture marketing and Agri business officials
- ICAR- CPCRI Kayamkulam invited her on their 75th year anniversary and she presented a lecture on activities and promotion of FPO and Experience Sharing of Ayyampalayam Farmers Producer Company Ltd.,
- Dr. S.P. Jothi conducted sessions on Strengthening of Farmers Producers Organization in the training program organized by the Department of Agriculture Marketing and Agri-Business in the districts of Dindigul and Karur.
As a writer:
Apart from her role as the head of Sri Sakthi Trust, Dr. S.P. Jothi is a well-known writer under the pen name “Sakthi Jothi.” She has authored 15 books, including 13 poetry collections and 2 books of essays.
