Program for Protection of Sexual Harassment Act (POSH) :

Our collaborative efforts have extended to partnering with Gain Up Industries, a distinguished textile manufacturer, exporter, and supplier situated in Dindigul District. In accordance with the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act (POSH Act), it is mandatory for organizations with ten or more employees to establish an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).

A significant number of women employed at Gain Up Industries hail from the surrounding villages, many of whom are first-time employees in an organized industry. These women often face economic and emotional suppression and continue to rely on male family members for support, despite their own earnings. Each woman’s challenges vary based on family background, culture, religion, education, and geographic factors, leading to potential misunderstandings among them. Therefore, it is crucial to create awareness about the employment structure and the supportive environment provided for these employees, benefiting both the employees and the organization.

As a member of the ICC, Sri Sakthi Trust aims to:

  1. Ensure the physical and mental well-being of the employees.
  2. Enhance the performance of both employees and the organization.
  3. Study and understand human behavior in the workplace.
  4. Increase workplace productivity.
  5. Foster team building and help employees evolve into an organized unit.
  6. Prevent workplace issues and raise awareness about handling them effectively.

 

Our motto as the ICC member is “Preventing the Preventable.” Under the POSH Act and the Vishakha Guidelines, our committee is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities, focusing on prevention, prohibition, and redressal. While we educate employees about these three purposes, our primary emphasis is on proactively preventing any problems from arising in the first place.

By working closely with Gain Up Industries, Sri Sakthi Trust continues to create awareness among employees (around 3000 women), promote a safe work culture, and ensure that any workplace concerns are promptly addressed. Our collective efforts contribute to fostering a supportive and respectful environment where every individual can thrive and reach their full potential.
