Sri Sakthi Social Economical and Educational Welfare Trust has been a beacon of hope and empowerment in rural Tamil Nadu since its establishment in 2001. With a vision to uplift women, youth, and farmers through skill development, livelihood enhancement, and community-driven initiatives, the Trust has partnered with Karur Vysya Bank under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives Since 2021. Together, they are driving impactful projects to create sustainable livelihoods and empower communities.
One such transformative project is “Sow. Grow. Empower: A Women-Centric Approach for Sustaining Livelihood, Land, and Lives.” This initiative focuses on empowering women, farmers, and youth in rural areas by equipping them with skills, resources, and opportunities for economic independence. The project has implemented a variety of programs, including:
1. Skill Development for Women: Over 38 women have been trained in tailoring, embroidery, and readymade garment production, enabling them to establish sustainable income sources. These women, many of whom were previously financially dependent, have now gained self-reliance and confidence.
2. Youth Livelihood Training: Under the “Nurturing Futures” component, symposiums are being organized for youth to present innovative startup ideas. Selected participants are provided entrepreneurship training and linked with credit support to launch their businesses, fostering job creation and economic growth.
3. Climate-Resilient Farming: Farmers are trained in sustainable agricultural practices, including soil and water conservation techniques, to enhance productivity and adapt to changing climatic conditions.
4. Infrastructure Development: Support for setting up community-centric units such as tailoring hubs and agricultural resource centers, improving access to resources and employment.
Through this partnership, Karur Vysya Bank has demonstrated its commitment to social development, while Sri Sakthi Trust ensures the successful implementation of these initiatives. Together, they are fostering economic empowerment and sustainable growth, transforming the lives of rural communities in Tamil Nadu.
