Sri Sakthi Social Economical and Educational Welfare Trust, in collaboration with City Union Bank (CUB) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has launched the transformative project “Sow. Grow. Empower: Roots of Development” in Karaikudi. Since November 2024. This project aims to empower rural women, foster sustainable livelihoods, and support economic growth in Sivaganga District.

The project focuses on skill development and employment generation, particularly for women. Through this initiative, 102 women are currently receiving training in tailoring and readymade garment production, with plans to expand further as new applications are being received. The training program is tailored to equip women with the technical expertise and confidence to start their own ventures or secure employment in the textile industry. A weekend batch has also been introduced to accommodate students and working women.

In addition to training, a garments manufacturing unit is being established to provide definite employment opportunities for trainees. Women showing interest in setting up their own small units are being encouraged and guided, while partnerships with companies in Tirupur, such as Dollar Global and Sri Senthil Company, have been initiated to secure job work opportunities for the trainees once they complete their training.

Sri Sakthi Trust also organized awareness sessions in collaboration with City Union Bank officials, creating awareness about various loan schemes available to support trainees in starting their ventures.

This initiative by CUB and Sri Sakthi Trust not only provides financial independence to women but also creates a sustainable model for rural economic development in the Karaikudi region.
